ARTS INTERN
ARTS INTERN places college undergraduates in paid internships with New York City museums.
Since its inception in 1999, ARTS INTERNS have worked alongside museum professionals in curatorial, education, marketing, and development departments.
Interns gain career building skills while contributing to the host institution. Students who have an interest in curatorial careers help prepare exhibitions and catalogues, and research archives. Those with an affinity for museum education develop educational materials and conduct gallery tours for children. Interns considering careers in marketing help create promotional materials, investigate social networking sites and work on web development. Students thinking about a future in development implement programs to raise funds and help write grants.
ARTS INTERNS gather once a week in a museum to share their experiences, view an exhibition with a curator, participate in a panel discussion, hear presentations by speakers from various departments, and explore career options.
