THE RESIDENCY PROGRAM - Available to all NYC Public Schools

Get to know us by starting with a short-term visual arts program that is flexible and tailored to meet your school's needs.   One of STUDIO's professional artists will design a curriculum that gives students, Pre-K to grade 12, the opportunity to experiment with the art media of your choice and to explore a particular visual or academic theme or course of study.  Choose a six- or fourteen-week residency.  Available year-round and during after-school.

THE LONG TERM PROGRAM - Grades K - 5 - Title 1 Schools

Watch the magic unfold when a professional artist works in a school for two to five years.  Art infuses the culture of  the whole school, children work in a dedicated art studio, and classroom teachers become confident art teachers who can conduct lessons on their own and bring art into the overall academic program.

PRE-K/KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM - Title 1 Schools - Day Care Centers - Head Start

Little hands and big ideas.  This two-year Pre-K/Kindergarten program for three to six-year-olds encourages children to explore their imagination, experiment with art materials and develop social skills.  STUDIO's professional artist helps children with age-appropriate arts activities that build sensory and fine motor skills while experiencing the joy of creating.  Give your youngest learners a head start on art!

FIRST GRADE ARTISTS PROGRAM - Title 1 Schools

Give your first graders a quality visual arts experience while supporting their emerging literacy.  This unique curriculum combines an introduction to the foundation skills of visual arts with a literacy-rich approach.  STUDIO's professional artist instructors engage students in a year-long program of arts activities and encourage them to describe and reflect on their artistic goals and creations.  STUDIO offers this important program at a subsidized rate.

ART & HEALTHY LIVING - Elementary Schools

Help your students make healthy eating choices while they create imaginative works of art about food and  healthy   living.  STUDIO developed this innovative curriculum with a nutrition expert from Columbia University Teachers College. Studio's professional artist partners with a nutrition teacher to teach students art and nutrition; this creative engagement with learning motivates students to change their behavior.   Try this imaginative approach  with your students!

STUDIO INTENSIVES - Middle School - High School - After School

Encourage your talented junior-high and high school students to apply for enrollment in STUDIO's free extended art workshops on Saturdays and during school vacations.  A professional STUDIO artist leads teen artists to develop their artistic skills and their portfolios at our studio on West End Avenue in Manhattan.  All supplies are provided.  A serious visual arts program for teens who are seriously interested in art.

TEEN APPRENTICESHIP - High School

Encourage your talented teens to apply for Studio's visual art apprenticeship program, where students learn from a professional artist how to teach art to children.  Those teens who "graduate" from the program will be accepted as paid interns and teach art in summer camps throughout the five boroughs of New York City.  This program combines arts education with critical career building experience and is a wonderful opportunity for motivated teens needing a first job experience.

ARTS MENTOR - College

The ARTS Mentor program is for BFA undergraduates interested in working with young people.  ARTS Mentors work with high school interns who have been accepted as art teachers in STUDIO's internship program in summer camps throughout New York City.  The ARTS Mentors provide guidance and oversight to the high school interns during the summer and also co-teach art classes with them. This program is a great opportunity for those interested in arts education.
