THE PRE-K/KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM

STUDIO’s The Pre-K/Kindergarten Program  (formerly known as the Early Childhood Program) provides art experiences for children ages four to six with an emphasis on sensory exploration, experimentation, and language building. This two year program is designed to create a permanent art presence in your school through direct services to children, professional development for staff, and parent workshops.

STUDIO’s professional artists collaborate with classroom teachers to implement units in collage, wood construction, paint, clay, and puppetry. Every lesson is designed so that youngsters develop:
  • foundation visual art skills
  • fine motor skills when manipulating art tools and materials
  • cognitive skills when making artistic decisions
  • language skills when discussing artwork
  • social skills when working on group art projects.

Practitioners and independent evaluators from the Department of Education assert that STUDIO’s Pre-K/Kindergarten Program is especially effective for developing language fluency in English Language Learners.

Eligibility
  • Title I schools with at least four Pre-K and/or K classes.
Your school will receive
  • A STUDIO subsidy of approximately 75% of the program cost
