Collage: Learning Takes Shape

As Skills Develop and Artists Grow

Guillermo, grade 3

chalk drawing and ink drawing
STUDIO artist: Damali Miller

Line: An introduction to line can begin with pencil; white chalk on black paper; marker, crayon or a brush and thinned black tempera paint or ink. If done on a large sheet of paper with students standing at their table, they can experience the feeling of drawing and creating that line. This can be demonstrated by having students draw in the air, using their pointer finger, in big sweeping motions.
